The Leeds Metropolitan University awarded Ton Roosendaal an Honorary Doctorate in Technology, july 15 2009. This as recognition for "founding the open source Blender project and pioneering new models for creating open content animation films and games."

 

 

 

The independent CG website http://www.cgenie.com has published a user survey giving an interesting view on the 3D software market and user's perceptions. With over 2000 respondents the outcome cannot be ignored; Blender is the new rising star!

The theme of this year's Berlinale Keynotes was about Film 2.0, or "The Age of Collaboration".

Five members of the digital media avant-garde - including top producers from the international games industry, Wikinomics pioneers and Open Movie directors - discussed some of the most challenging questions facing the film industry.

Over 350 media professionals attended the event in the Kaisersaal at Potsdamer Platz, introduced by Festival Director Dieter Kosslick.

Het Nederlandse Blender brengt begin 2008 's werelds eerste 'open source' game op het net. Iedereen met verstand van zaken kan met vrije software en zonder licenties meewerken aan het online ontwikkelen van dit 3D-spel.
