Biography

I’m a Graphic Designer and currently studying Communication and Multimedia Design in Rotterdam. I like to work on a computer to use multimedia application to create websites, interactive applications, digital drawing, and I use Blender for modelling or the built-in game engine to create some little games. It sounds like I do a lot on computers, and called myself multifunction in multimedia, which is why my nickname is JD-Multi. Besides this, I also do Scuba Diving and underwater photography, I’m not a professional underwater photographer but at least I try to make some cool photos.

Blender Game Engine Workshop

The workshop I’m going to organize is about Blender’s game engine. Since a few releases the game engine has been updated with some cool new features like GLSL shaders and the Bullet Physics engine. In this workshop I’m going to get more on the Physics part of the game engine and show people and teach them how to use this new feature. During the workshop you’ll see some game examples made by the community after which we are going to create a little vehicle game / simulation using the Bullet Physics engine.

In this workshop you’ll learn how to use the Bullet Physics and the game engine to create a vehicle simulation like we know from Grand Theft Auto and Need for Speed. We’ll use the well known Logic bricks and Python scripting to archive this. The workshop will cover this step by step and finally you’ll be able to create your own race track for your vehicle.

To participate in this workshop it would be great to have some experience in using Blender’s interface, also I told something about using Python scripts, but don’t worry about this, because you don’t need to know anything about Python. Also remember to take a laptop with you if you want to create something during this workshop, there is time enough to do this.
