Set Chaining:

With set chaining you can create chains of scenes, to be used as a set. A scene can be assigned a set in the Output panel from the Scene Settings (F10)

For instance, the scene PartOfOne is a set for scene SetOne. The scene Main has SetOne as set.

If you click on PartOfOne in the outliner, you see only one cube. When you click on SetOne, you see two cubes, one selected, one greyed out. That is the set. When you choose Main from the outliner, you'll see three cubes. The two greyed out cubes are the set, but in two different scenes. You can only move content of the scene that is active.
