New Brush Selector

Performance

A number of nice performance improvements in addition to brechts multires pbvh work.  Some algorithmic work and optimizations.

Interface

We have some gorgeous new icons, a new brush and texture popup selector.  A number of new curves and curve selection.  Numerous new options for each brush.

The new brush and texture selector are searchable via typing.


Shortcuts

Now you can select the first 20 brushes with 0-9 and Shift-0 through Shift-9.  Shift for smoothing and Ctrl for invert brush.

New Tools

Grab

Grab works drastically better with overlapping symmetry.

Snake Hooks

A grab variant that releases some of the outermost vertices each time it moves.

Thumb

A grab variant similar to pushing on the brush with your thumb.

Nudge

A grab variant that grabs verts for a short time and then drops and grabs a new set of verts.

Flatten and Contrast

Flatten moves faces within the brush radius towards the area normal plane - the place calculated by averaging the normals of all faces within the brush radius.

Contrast moves faces within the brush radius away from the area normal plane

Clay

Should give much nicer results.  One of the most heavily used brushes.

Fill  and Deepen

Fill takes faces below the plane defined by the average face normals within the brush radius, and moves faces towards that plane

Deepend takes faces below the plane and moves those faces away from the plane.


Scrape and Enhance Peaks

Scrape takes vertices above the plane defined by the average of the face normals and moves those vertices towards the plane.

Enhance peaks takes vertices above the plane defined by the average of the face normals and moves those vertices away from the plane.

Crease

The brush pushes down in center has a very sharp falloff, and very slight pinch.

Brush Options
Stencil overlay on the viewport
The ability to overlay an image or texture on the viewport, and to scale, translate, and rotate the image to use it for sculpting and texturing.

Trim - Max travel distance

Limits the effect of the planar related brushes to faces that are less than a certain height above/below the plane.


Plane depth offset


How deep or shallow a cut plane can be

Keep Original Plane

keeps sculpting along the original plane that the brush started on

Stroke options

Radial Symmetry

Radial Symmetry

Allow sculpt strokes to be spaced around the object in a radial pattern instead of constraining to xyz plane mirroring.

Spacing

The brush spacing is based on a percentage of the brush radius, so that scaling the brush and zooming the view keeps the same relative spacing.

Anchor Edge

Anchor brush can now drag edge to edge

Direction

The view vector to be sculpted towards.

Sculpting works with modifier stack

if a model is posed or has other modifiers allow sculpting to work on it.
