This page is the official Blender Foundation Trainer Certificate for:
Raised in Adelaide, Australia, I was very interested in music from a young age and received a music scholarship to my high school college at age 10. I played video games a lot in my spare time also and wanted to learn how to make them. So in 2002 I managed to get one week work experience at an internet cafe that doubled as a 3D animation school. I couldn't afford the program or the courses they offered, but the lady who worked there mentioned there were free packages I could download.
I went home and downloaded every type of free 3D software I could find, among them this one complex looking program with a grid and a lot of buttons. I wasn't entirely impressed by the free software I found, most were made to assist other packages. Then, as I was about to give up, I saw an amazing image of a Victorian stairwell and doorway, with volumetric light coming in through the stain glass window next to the door. I scrolled down to find the program that made this image, Blender. The program I had already downloaded with the confusing grid and buttons everywhere.
I knew if this image was made in Blender, I could achieve the same. I opened Blender, found the small amount of online tutorials that existed at the time, and have continued using and learning Blender ever since.
Thanks to such a wonderful community, where I participated in online contests, shared my art and received feedback, and the great tutorials and training programs that exist. I was able to hone my skills and be a part of some amazing projects. I was in the core team in both 'Elephants Dream' and 'Sintel' Open movie projects, and I worked as an animator on Lucasarts Star Wars video games.
I hope to share the knowledge I have learnt so that others interested in this amazing industry (or hobby!), can get the advantage and reach their goals with computer graphics, whatever they may be.
