Bit of a vast question here, but I need to model a wicker hamper, and was wondering if anyone had any tips for how to do this please? I have no idea where to start!

A whole bunch of Curves with a Bevel Object? Sounds like a candidate for a script.

Have you found a tutorial yet? Trying to find one myself.
I made this from a plane and circle. 24 horizontal and 5 vertical loop cuts.
Selected every other row of verts, lifted them. Then rotated every other row of faces. Uprights are extruded circles.
