Physics help!!!

Ok I have a large physics simulation and it relies heavily on the physics deactivation property. Only one problem, I need to change the values of it during the simulation, I need it set high at points to make certain objects to sleep, (allowing my computer to run faster and more accurate simulation of the next part) but I need it low again so that it doesn’t totally stop the simulation at times when there are very slow moving objects. How do I change the values in game?!? It’s driving me crazy, I’ve used blender for about 2 years now and I can’t figure it out, any help, hints or suggestion would be a Great BIG HELP!!
