messy smooth since 2.30?

Postby macouno » Mon Jan 05, 2004 4:55 pm

Ok I've mentioned it elsewhere but since I hear no response I'll show it here... I'll do the same on elysiun cause maybe it's just my mistake but something is off. I did some test renders the only settings I changed was switching raytracing on in render and lamp and switching the different smooth functions.

The only mesh I fiddled with is the head... I'm using toon shading.

1: No Raytracing Solid mesh

2: No raytracing Smooth mesh

3: No raytracing Auto Smooth mesh

4: Raytracing solid mesh

5: Raytracing smooth mesh

6: Raytracing auto smooth mesh

As you can see all sorts of weird stuff happens in regular smooth. And also when raytracing suddenly a face in the jaw turns black... and that is not a normals issue...

Anyone??? Any ideas??? Solutions???

Ok I seem to have solved the discoloured square thingy...

Copied that face... moved copy away... deleted original... moved copy in place... connected it... redid smooth... works... but still baffled.

That didn't do it... but turning on unified renderer did.. somehow.

Nope it didn't. The unified renderer in the version I ran didn't raytrace... just didn't notice it at first.

I still have no idea!
