I think we should add a transform gizmo just like in Maya&Max ( a big one too) it just helps a lot when manipulating objects specially when moving or rotating in just one axis what do you guys think??

It's a good idea. It would be nice to get away from the view dependent editing sometimes. If it's a max-style gizmo or something else doesn't matter as long as it allows transformation/rotation along a specified axis regardless of the current view.

Not to mention along the normal too- I find that feature in Maya's manipulator very useful.

Yup. That would be very useful too. I use that in Wings all the time (even though there's no explicit gizmo)
