I have heard that 2.5x has a much better UI than 2.4x, and so decided to give it a spin. I downloaded the installer, ran it, and launched Blender 2.56 from it. From what I've seen so far, it's pretty nice (there are a few things I've not checked out, and have found a UI bug I can reproduce, but that's a different issue).
The issue is, no matter where I choose to install, it doesn't actually put the beta there. It just runs it from whatever temporary location it's at. Once I close Blender I have to run the installer to get it back. I'm on Windows Vista SP2. I do have 2.49 installed, though that shouldn't matter given that I'm trying to install to a different directory (i.e. .../Blender-beta rather than .../Blender).

Well, I found my install of the Blender beta. For some reason it decided to install the whole program in a folder in my user directory instead of Program Files.
