Hello, I am very proud to announce that I have released BlenderBuntu now (for those that dont know its a highly modfied ubuntu 11.10 distro that I built for pure speed in blender)

It has a load of features that every blenderartist will love, a couple of big features being:

Always the latest version on Blender which updates itself everytime a new bug fix has been released by the blender foundation.

Gimp 2.6 with the single window mode of 2.7

no applications that you dont need (ehem "windows") slowing down the system

No application other than the desktop on startup (makes it very fast to start and shut down)

Only 2 processes running when in idle (ehem "again windows 45> processes")

In my own personal tests on a dual core 2.3 GHz machine I got 44% Faster renders in cycles.

ITS FREE

its lightweight (total download is only 800MB)

and its fast... boy is it fast!

Somehow, I think if you did a 'ps -A' in console, you would see significantly more than 2 processes running.

hmmm, I'll try that Although I can guarentee that if you give the OS a chance you will like it
Im working on version 2 soon aswell, which will be better still

Im not doubting that its faster, or that I wouldnt like it.
I already use Ubuntu 10.04LTS for my Blendering, and as my primary OS.

Just that a claim like that brings questions...
