Ive been watching the videos on youtube and they all seem to work the same way. You make a vertex group, assign it, make a particle system, set it up so its hair, then you go to the vertex group tab and assign the group you made under the density section. When the people in the video do this the hair goes perfectly with the group and extrudes out away from the game object. When I do this the hair is moved to the general area of my group and some extrudes out and some extrudes in through my object. Im also not even able to edit the hair correctly in particle mode. There are also a couple random strands that arent near my group at all. Can anyone help?
Check the direction of the normals on your object. The hair grows in the direction the normals are facing.
