camera movment in the game engine

Postby accer » Thu Aug 16, 2007 1:41 am

hello, as u probably already know, i am a noob, at this. im making a little maze game, were you move the ball around to complete the course.
now, i know how to make the camera follow the object, and it works quite good, however the camera always seems to go through the wall. and im wondering if u can use the logic brick to make the camera follow the object behind the walls. or will i have to look towards using python to achieve this?

please help better myself.

You use the Camera Actuator

But i really think this involves python coding. That is my opinion

Forget camera actuators they suck
place the camera behind and up a little and select the ball
next hit B and click on the ball and drag the mouse up till its over the camera and let go. then hit ctrl+p and hit ok
then go to view and select camera
play the game and see what happens
also in case your maze has high walls make sure the maze is an actor and the camera is an actor
Happy Blending

When I follow those steps, My camera rotates with the ball, going through the floor in front of it and back up behind it, how do I make the camera follow the ball without it doing this?

Hello
select the ball
place the 3D cursor at the center of it
enter edit mode
add a cube
with cube vertices selected press W key and choose Merge-At center
Now you've a vertex at the ball center...select it, select camera while pressing Ctrl key
and do Ctrl-P to "vertex Parent"
Now your camera should stay in place....
To do some parent delay to the camera enable "Slow Parent" in the Anim Setings Panel
and play with TimeOffset value
Bye
