I'm very excited and pleased with the 2.5 beta, and really hoping to see Space Navigator supported in it.

Any news on that, anyone?

Hy Guys!

I just got an email from 3Dconnexion. They told me that they don't develop plugins for blender anymore, because the "Blender-guys" implement the plugins (from V 2.5x) alone.

So I'm waiting for a newer version of Blender 2.5x (later than 2.54 beta).

Does anyone know what's going on right know?
Date for new version?
Support for SpaceNavigator in Blender 2.54?

The people at 3dConnexion were very helpful developing the plugin for Blender 2.4x and even provided a programmer to work with us. Sorry I do not have his name at the moment to give him credit.

Blender 2.5x is still under development. Focus right now is restoring all old features and bug-fixing. A huge amount of progress has been made. Next goal is to make the UI functional again.

I don't know of anyone working on Space Navigator support at the moment, but when we get there, I'm sure we can get the assistance we need from 3dConnexion.

Thank you, Navigator and stiv. I'm eager to see that happen, because I am so loving the new blender interface. I'm crazy about it. Love it.

Eagerly awaiting the re-implimentation of the 3D mouse.
I think that is the only thing keeping me from moving over to 2.5x.
Working without the Navigator feels like having an arm tied behind my back.

Just to keep the fires burning...

A free, compatible alternative for 3Dconnexion's 3D input device drivers and SDK:

QFT. 2.5 has been Hell for me: I want to use it, but I can't do it without a proper input device for 3D navigation. Should have been no beta until SpaceNavigator worked. Confused

2.55 and still no 6dof support? Man, this is bad. I really hope it's returned to blender by release. I can wait, but I can't do without.

Same here, same here. After I've spent all these hours zipping around 3d space like there's no tomorrow, it would be a major annoyance to use "click and stop" movement again.

You may want to have a look at the recent developer meeting notes:

Seems there is movement in the space navigator support.
I hope it will be available soon.

Ahh, yes. That is promising. I've tried the new blender, of course, and it does seem very nice. I love the changes and improvements to the UI. The moment SpaceNav support is repaired, I'll switch.

And looking forward to it.

The Space Navigator is NOT supported on Blender 2.5x. Not yet, anyway. Some people are working to change that.

One of the interesting things about the open source spacenav driver is that it supports both the 3dconnexion (Magellan) protocal and a USB-flavored protocol.

Old Blender does work with both the 3dconnexion and the spacenav drivers.
