I love blender but it's .x exporter (what pretty much any major graphics engine uses it seems) is just plain bad... it explodes the model saveing each poly as a seperate mesh. textures sometimes work, but with advanced stuff like meshes with bone exporting is nearly impossible to to get a working, non-corrupted .x file.
my current devcycle involves exporting a mesh from blender into 3ds max v6 to and export it from there to a working .x file.
Every time I try to export a working .x model out of blender I waste so much time fidling around, it truely feels like a kick in the apricots...

I'm not saying this will get you want you want but....
If I were you I'd make a simple file, and show what blender produces
and how it should look. Even if thats just
running the same file through your current process and saying this is
what I get if I use 3ds.
The more info you can provide the better your chances of someone fixing it.

well any model, even the default cube gets screwed up.
so just start up blender and then export to .x and you will see the problem.
