So yeah, ive got the up to date version of Blender for XP and downloaded all required software. But now all it says is "Checking for Installed Python . . . Got it!" But thats it. Nothing opens nothing goes away just the black window. I noticed something befroe download that you (as an XP user) may need Admin privelages or summit in order to finish installation.
Has that got anything to do with it or am I missing something that should know i.e another bit of software im missing??

Make sure you have the latest videocard drivers installed. If that doesn't help, turn down/off hardware acceleration, antialiasing and other fancy stuff.
