Is anyone else not able to open the new Blender on a mac with a similar configuration to me? How on a mac can I see if it's crashing at some point in it's start up?
Thanks in advance.

Run blender from the command line.
I suspect problems with Python versions.

Sorry I'm more a designer than a programmer guy.
How do I run it from the command line? And sorry where is the command line?
Sorry for my lack of coding skills.

Open up a terminal
/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app
Then if you have blender installed as say
/users/mein/blender2.49/blender.app
type
/users/mein/blender2.49/blender.app/Contents/MacOS/blender

You need to install Python for blender to work.
http://www.python.org/download/releases/2.5.4/
I tried installing a newer version, but blender is specifically requesting 2.5
After I installed python blender worked beautifully.

I am also having issues opening blender on my Mac 10.4.11.
I get the blender.app file and double click....the icon looks as though it opened but nothing appears.
I downloaded both Python 3.1.1 and 2.5.4 but still nothing is working.
Above it says that Blender 2.48 works fine. Is this version still available.
Does anyone have any other suggestions???
Thanks

Is there a reason why you did not download the intel mac version for OSX 10.4 and python 2.3 available on blender.org ?

Hi everyone. I have a Macbook 2 GHz intel core duo processor with 2 GB 667 MHz DDr2 SDRAM. i have downloaded blender-2.49b-OSX-10.5-py2.5-intel and Python 2.6.4 . when i open Blender it will open like i believe i should. when i try to do something as simple as delete the first object (the cube), then move the cursor around and or add a new object the original cube that had been deleted will flashily reappear. and it will do this for i believe EVERYTHING. can someone tell me what to do. it's very annoying.
i found another problem. when i save as, enter name, then click save as it says

As the python 2.3 is the version released with the macbook operating system, you should use blender-2.49b-OSX-10.4-py2.3-intel version.
