Help! Simple extrude problem.

Postby Motdepasse » Fri Feb 12, 2010 5:10 pm

I've gotten Blender into some strange mode that I can't get out of. When I try to extrude some points, Blender wants to extrude them at some strange angle.

For example, I press Num-3 to look at the y-z plane. I select some vertices, press e, a line appears on the screen at an arbitrary angle where I can only extrude along that line. I can press y to extrude in only the y-direction and I can to the same in the z-direction. But I cannot extrude in an arbitrary direction.

How do I get Blender back to its' basic extrude mode?
Is there a way to find out what mode Blender is in? There must be some basic status screen that displays this information.

Thanks ahead of time for any help.

extrude options are:
perpendicular to face (default)
x, y, or z = along Global axis
xx, yy, or zz = along local axis
shift x, shift y or shift z = arbitrary movement constrained to plane
