I'm not sure if this is a blender bug, or something wrong with my computer.
When I try to make a texture an envmap (little sphere in the image window) It looks faceted and ugly.
Here's a screenshot to show what I mean:

This didn't always happen though, envmaps used to work fine for me, and when I open old files where i used envmaps they look fine, it just happens when I make a new envmap.
Please help
PS.
Things I've already tried:
- tryed different versions of blender (2.25, 2.26, and 2.27)
- uninstalling then reinstalling blender (all versions)

your image isn't working for me...
have you pressed set smooth on your object?
(and did you press the ref button in the material buttons instead of orco?)

ah, that's an easy fix.
Envmaps in the game engine appear that way when you are not in a perspective mode. NumPad 5 will toggle perspective.
This is not an issue in the game because blender doesn't allow orthogonal cameras (that I know of)

hitting set-smooth did the trick. (Weird, I thought I'd tried that before...)
The envmap looks weird in ortho mode too, but it's a different weirdness. In ortho mode it looks kind of distorted, not disco-ball-like
Thank you for your help everybody, I really appreciate it
