moving and rotating object origin.

Postby kilbee » Tue Apr 05, 2011 5:29 pm

hi, ive been searching for this for quite a while...
is there a way to transform only object origin manually? i know i can enter edit mode and transform faces etc, but id like to transform only object origin by hand, while my geometry stays in place.
i really need to do this this way, since my objects are aligned the way i like and i just need to rotate them along specified axis.
so, is it possible to rotate object origin (and move it by hand a bit) without affecting or moving geometry itself?

That's done with the 3D Cursor - you have to move where you want, and then snap the origin to the 3D Cursor. You can also use the 3D Cursor as a rotation pivot:

I have searched for a manual rotation of origin too but without luck.
What I do is that I rotate object itself first by x degrees, then apply rotation and then rotate the object back by -x degrees.
