I'm new to Blender and have been going thorough a tutorial series. I love the app and findi it to be very intuitive now that I have a basic understanding of the interface.

I am experiencing a strange issue and I am not sure if it's a bug or my lack of Blender experience.

I'll perform a function like scaling (s) or assign a color/material to an object and then the Blender keyboard shortcuts stop working as if the Keyboard focus is elsewhere. However, the mouse works fine.

The only way I can get keyboard input working is by switching to another program then go back to Blender.

I can reproduce this easily and it has happened to my at least 10 times already this morning.

I am running Blender 2.64 on an 27" iMac with 12GB of ram and a 1TB hard drive running OS X 10.7.5.

I also notice this happening on my MacBookPro too running the same version of OS X
