Ok, so can someone tell me where that file .B.blend is in WindowsXP? Cause I want to delete it, if infact it does hole the settings and doesn't get deleted when you uninstall blender according to:

I can't find it, and hopefully blender will work for me again once I delete it and reinstall...

It's somewhere in *Drive*:/Documents and Settings/*User*/
try making a search there.

Hi:
I have done a search, and looked manually all over for it, and the file is just not there...
Does anyone have any idea on how I can get Blender working on my computer again in Windows XP? I can't even start it without it crashing.
thnx

Try this: Make sure that you have show hidden files turned on (Tools --> folder options). Then do a search for the .b.blend file. Its located just like theeth said.

after the *User* folder look in the Application Data\Not a Number\Blender subfolder.

I had hidden files showing...
i did a manual search, as well as a complete file search...
the file does exist in win98, but not in XP, I can guarantee it's not there...
It only appears if you change the default settings. That is, hit Ctrl + u, and then it will write it....
A guy wrote it in this forum here:
http://www.elysiun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14974
but since, i couldn't even get blender started, i couldn't hit ctrl + u to write that file, that's why it didn't exist...

.B.blend is a file that just sets up the default user settings. If you delete it blender will function normally just with no user settings. Ctrl-U saves user settings in the .Blender folder (local to the .exe) on XP. The default install goes into the \'user'\application data\not a number\etc. folder. I don't think your crashing 'cause of the missing .blend file.
