I just downloaded 1114_blender25_r23617_64bit and gave it a whirl on my machine.
Positive feedback: Startup time is
excellent. Well done! And finally, I can select with the left mouse button. Thanks a lot!
On to the less pleasant things:
1. How do I change the UI colors? On my LCD, the window is almost black on black.
2. Error opening old project:
| Code: |
| symbol lookup error: ./blender: undefined symbol: gzopen64 |
Same happens when I try to recover the last session.
3. Clicking in the empty area of scroll bar does nothing (knob should jump in the direction of the click).
4. "Open Recent": All menu items have the same shortcut (Shift+Ctrl+0)
Please let me know whether I should open a bug report on any of those. I can't find out myself since the search in the bug tracker is disabled.
Thanks a lot,
A. Digulla

Same thing here, running Fedora 12 64bit with kernel 2.6.31.5-127.fc12.x86_64. Haven't found a solution yet.
Best wishes and great work so far on Blender 2.5!

I had the same problem on Fedora 10 64-bit. I did some searching on the web and found that the version of zlib that the 64-bit version was build with is not a standard version, even the source code from the zlib website does not have gzopen64 defined in it. So I downloaded the source code for the version of zlib ubuntu uses and compiled it by running
and then . Then I copied the files | Quote: |
| libz.so.1.2.3.3 libz.so.1 libz.so |
to the same directory as the blender executable and that fixed the problem.
The source code for the ubuntu zlib can be found at http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/z/zlib/zlib_1.2.3.3.dfsg.orig.tar.gz.
Let me know if this works. Also, something needs to be done about this for distributions which do not have a zlib with gzopen64.

Same problem on mandriva 2010 x86_64; Blender 2.5 alpha crashes without warning :
blender-2.5-alpha0-linux-glibc27-x86_64/blender
found bundled python: /home/genesis/Download/blender-2.5-alpha0-linux-glibc27-x86_64/.blender/python
(after trying to load any .blend file):
blender-2.5-alpha0-linux-glibc27-x86_64/blender: symbol lookup error: blender-2.5-alpha0-linux-glibc27-x86_64/blender: undefined symbol: gzopen64
This Blender's version is:
Blender 2.50 (sub 7) Build
build date: "2009-11-23"
build time: "18:23:45"
build revision: ""
build platform: "linux2"
build type: "dynamic"
This problem is absent from the "freestyle" build blender25_freestyle/blender -v
Blender 2.50 (sub 7) Build
build date: "2009-11-30"
build time: "14:34:13"
build revision: ""
build platform: "linux2"
build type: "dynamic"
(Just in case it helps)
Thanks

blender will soon loose the interest of the people. I am the user of blender for year but now the blender is loosing the charm. It now looks like a piece of garbage. Everything is frustrating. The interface is like cinema 4d which I don't like.. I have to move to new 3d program. Blender is loosing the charm. The new people will not attract that much. The blender guys must have to think about the people who is using it for long. Copying and competing with other program will make it worse because the copying will never become original. Blender must have to create his own style like earlier. New people will also run like hell when they see the interface.
