Hi,

I purchased this city scene recently:
http://www.the3dstudio.com/product_details.aspx?id_product=485702

My goal is to be able to extract seperate buildings from the scene and export them as individual objects to be later used in a city composition done in a specific tool for a game (flight simulator) add-on

Now when i select one building in the city scene, I see many other buildings selected with it. I can't figure out a way to seperate those selections

I want to copy and paste each single building in a new file and export it

I am not a 3D modeler but a graphic designer, and I am used to the way photoshop or illustrator allow selections, cutting and pasting Smile

Any tip or hint as for doing this ?

Thanks!
Michel

From the sound of it, all the buildings are joined into one mesh. You can separate them just like you would in photosoap - by going into edit mode selecting the particular vertices and using the P-Key to seParate them into individual meshes. Yeah, it sounds like a lot of work.

Yeah you are right, it is a scene with many meshes, each containing few buildings

I will try your tutorial then

Thanks!

you can try the following:

- select a building (which will select other buildings as well)
- go to edit mode
- Mesh > Vertices > Separate > By loose parts

if the building geometry isn't connected somehow to other buildings, each building should get separated into its own mesh object.
