Hi guys, I created a model and saved it as a VRML and then imported in Blender. For some strange reason, some surfaces have correctly placed normals whilst others have incorrectly placed normals, I don't know why this is happening. Rather than going over the various parts of my model and flipping the normals the slow and laborious way, is there some simple way of fixing my problem?

The other problem I'm having is because I'm new to blender and don't really know how to use it properly yet.

My second VRML problem is that when I import a VRML file, it's jaggedy due to the triangles making up the shape. If I create a cylinder in blender, even if it has something like 32 very obvious sides, when you export the object, it renders as a perfect cylinder with smooth surfaces. However if I import the VRML file, save it as a blender file and export it to my final destination... well, it's as jaggedy as it was when I first imported it from the VRML format, not sure why the smoothing doesn't take place.
