Dear forum,

I've been doing some basic Blender stuff, but I'm by no means an expert (or even good). I just happened to come across this IK demonstration for Maya, and it had some features that I found nifty, and I'm curious if Blender can do the same things.

Stuff that I found especially nice, I guess, were the spine manipulation, especially that at 1:15 in the video; and the fixing of the hand at 4:20. But generally, I'm just wondering if Blender is capable of the things he's doing with his rig.

(Also, do feel free to, if you want, to turn this into a Maya vs. Blender thread. I happen to be doing some paid development, and management is generally very fond of Maya rather than Blender though I never see any good reasons why, but I don't have enough knowledge to argue.)

Have you looked at some of the great tutorials available for Blender, put together by its active community of users? A useful place to start learning about Blender is here: http://www.blender.org/education-help/
