It really is great when I made the switch to Blender. My first encounter with it is through Big Buck Bunny which got me really interested with it.

My first software with 3d background is actually Maya though made the switch to Blender just short after.

Had no problems with it ever since and that is one of the better things made available altogether.

Very similar situation here. I started with 3DS, then 3DS MAX for a few years, then moved to Maya and never looked back. A few months ago I saw the Big Buck Bunny short, and gave Blender a serious look.

Learning new muscle memory for Blender controls was the toughest part, but now with 2.63 the Maya preset makes the transition a breeze!

I started using maya 10+ years ago and one thing I never understood was why the default setting for every damn thing looks like shit. lol. Blender is a breath of fresh air from some of Maya's more annoying quirks.
