I would love to animate a piano playing, so if I can import a MIDI score into the timeline to show what notes are played and when the note starts it would help me animate each key. Each time the piano key is played I would put in the animation of that key going down. Or make an animation of leaves falling and have a random leaf light up as they fall.
Or better, a MIDI timeline for advanced music animations with multiple instruments.
i like the idea, but this could get pretty complex. First off, should it be written in C (using libsmf or similar) or Python?
Is a timeline really needed or couldn't it just import the notes to fcurve?
Would it be worth the effort to make a midi timeline when you could also use special input devices for 3d like SpaceNavigator?
