General discussion about the development of the open source Blender,
but without developers?

Sry for asking this, but it looks to me like only users of blender who started right now with blender are searching for help here.
No admin, moderator or dev is talking here

regular u could think blender forum is the right place
or is it the blenderartist support forum?

If you want to talk about using Blender, blenderartists.org is the place.

The forums here are essentially a low-bandwidth interface to Blender development. Most of the immediate discussion takes place either on the bf-committers mailing list or on the #blendercoders IRC channel in freenode.net .

There is also a weekly development meeting every Sunday. The actual meeting is focused on making decisions and not discussion, but Sundays can be a good day to discuss issues since everyone is around.

IRC can be a great place to qet quick help with compile problems.

At some point in the near future, we are going to be re-organizing the development forums to condense the number of categories and try and chase the user questions over to blenderartists.org .
