This is good news! Perhaps this is the beginning of those slow to move (but deep pocketed) sponsors, i.e. corporate ones.

/me pets his Nokia.
Just a little cloud floating through my mind though... wasn't the IPaq version of not-opensourced?
Great work Ton, we love you! But I guess you must know that already... Say this site is on XS4ALL you say... hmmm... I'm on XS4ALL too!!! Now I got an even better PING

IMHO I think the sponsors should be on the opening page of the site. Most people don't try to hunt down who's sponsoring a project, so the two little buttons are a waste of time (Wow adverts on this link, better check them out!!!). By moving them to the front page it'll make more of an impression to new viewers....
...and while I'm in rant mode...
The opening page should contain a nice stratements saying what blender is and some example art work created with it. Remeber we're meant to be promoting this tto the heathen masses who don't know what Blender is i.e. Nothing to do with food!

Of course the sponsors get clearly mentioned.
We will add an evil banner system here as well. Sorry! But that's what the sponsors get.
Luckily only at the front page, and pages that directly link from it. So not while reading the messages here.
Hope postNuke allows us to do so...

This is great stuff. Let's just hope that Nokia stays alive for a while... I guess we'll see Blenderplayer support on the next Nokia then. Might be a good reason for me to replace my old one...
/me thinks of Ericson, Sweden.
And remember that sedgetone is still in an unclosed rant-block... watch out!

Bravo,
Ton, this is great news that Nokia and XS4all is onboard with blender
and maybe some how Nokia can work around any copywrite laws
that maybe in the way of developing phone graphics from blender!
seems other companys are showing an intrest in adding graphics:

Don't apologize! The banner adds aren't evil if they're sponsoring Blender IMO! People should know the names of the organizations responsible for helping Blender remain free and open! I like knowing who these organizations are so I can support them if/when I have the opportunity.
