Having trouble installing a script

Postby Sean67 » Sat Nov 03, 2012 3:23 am

Hi everyone, Im a noob and I am not sure what to do. I understand how to install an add-on, but this add-on called the window generator I cant install.
When I click the download link to get the add-on it doesn't download it just fills a browser window with the python text. I am not sure what to do with it. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help.

If you mean this... http://blenderartists.org/forum/showthr ... enerator-2

In Browser...
Right-click link, Save link as.. (or however your browsers saves files)

In Blender...
Start with a blank empty project.
File --> User Preferences --> Addons Tab
Install Addon button at bottom of the window.
Navigate to wherever your browser saved the file...
select the file 'add_Window.py' , click 'Install Addon'
dont forget to activate the plugin by clicking the checkbox at the far right of the plugin named "Window Generator 2"
Click 'Save as default'

Now open your current project, or start a new one to use the addon...

Thank You Tehrasha. I never knew this. I thought that would only save a link and just go back to the page. Now I can get some more addons I have wanted. Thanks once again.

Hello

I'm a french Mac User (G5 PPC under 10.5.8) and I've the same issue when trying to install new scripts. I tried many different ways, either by manually dragging the scripts into the right directory or by using the Install Addon button.
Here is what the terminal displays:

[MacDuHaut:~] Papa% /Users/Papa/Applications/blender-2.63/blender.app/Contents/MacOS/blender

--------------
Python 3.2 is already installed and Blender 2.63.
I also tried to specify the Scripts path, but it doesn't change anything.
I can see the scripts in the users preferences/addons window, but impossible to active then, they aren't loaded :(

I already had the trouble with former versions and even with my Intel MacBookPro (still under 10.5.8). Unfortunately I can't upgrade my Macs to go up to 10.6.
