PNG Alpha tranceperancy on a material ISSUES

I've mapped a plane added a .png of a trafic light, however I've made it as a material and added tranceperancy but it dose not follow the alpha of the png but makes the entire object transparent.

((i know i can just have it as a uv mapped texture and it works but i want a material so i can use normal maps.))
