Convert pose into new armature rest position

Title : Convert pose into new armature rest position.

some years ago (2008) there were a post asking to convert a pose position into a new rest position.
Then I would like to generalize the problema little bit.
I have a generic model (human body) from a library and I want to morph it to specific biometric measures and put in a standard rest positrion.
I rig the generic model, put in pose position, rotate and change dimensions to the bones, the meshes follow, and finally I would like to take the resulting meshes + armature in pose position as a new rest position.

There is a button on the pose menu that convert the armature to a new rest position, but the meshes return in the old rest position, and apparently the parenting from bones to meshes is lost

Pose > Apply > Apply Pose as rest Pose works as expected for me
I'm sitting, waiting, wishing, building Blender in superstition...
