I have succeded to build a preliminary top-level Makefile for the 2.25b tree.
It is by no means finished. It is just a first step to get everybody started.
I builds on my debian/sid/intel box but I think that it should work on other distributions after minor tweaking. It builds regular binaries (crashing - non-functional) and debugging binaries which are functional (at least I've menaged to render some sphere with cloud texture and a lamp). You can strip debugging info and try to use them.
The modified 2.25b tree is posted at:
http://rozeta.com.pl/blender/blender-2.25b-ptj-20021016.tgz
Just unpack it make a link from ~/develop to the top directory of the tree
and run make inside (better check the Makefile first !)
There is also a diff file for this tree and the makefile itself.
Heppy building

Wow, that's a lot more going on here than I last looked...perhaps my updated post should have held off until I could have read all the new info....sorry!

My compilation's finished...does anyone know where it hides the binaries?
I can complete a full make in ~/develop/source, and it completes with no errors...but I can't find any binaries; help?
-----------
Nevermind....I need to get those darned ~/develop/intern/BSP,Decimation, and Img things.

Has anyone managed to compile Blender for Win32 yet? I had a very quick look last night and there appears to be a workspace file missing. When I tried a build it failed to find one of the memory allocation includes, which can easily be fixed.
Can I expect more trouble when I've fixed this?! Probably!

Does anyone have Win32 binaries yet?
Thanks. I'll update if I get something working.

well Jelly, you can expect a whole lot more than a missing workspace file. The libraries dont like to link up AT ALL. youll have to by hand place them in your include directory for your compiler, OR, youll have to edit the paths to every single one. Once that is done... i dotn detect many problems other than GameBlender

I do not think that the binary is of any use for anybody but I'll post it
at http://rozeta.com.pl/blender anyway. I'll also try to post my
tree there but not today. First I've to make a build script for it.
All was done under debian linux sid (devel distribution)
Have fun !

Those binarys run ok on my Mandrake 8.1 box.
Thanks for posting them. (:
I have not had any luck compiling yet. But making more progress with the new make file.
Does anyone have any idea when official binaries will pop up?
Thanks again
Andy
