Have you enabled Anti Aliasing?
It's the button that says OSA in the F10 panel

Blender 2.23 for mac does have problems rendering, nothing you can do will fix it.
Now 2.25 BlenderPublisher works great for rendering but it is very slow compared to the linux & windows versions.
I would suggest getting your hands dirty and figure a way of compiling an OS X version from the source code (minus the game engine).
Also on the foundation forum Ton has asked Founding Members if he should release 2.25 now to the public since the main goal has been achieved - so you might be able to get that soon too !
good luck!

Well, I've found a PC with windows 200o that I can use to compile my aniimation... Far out the rendering looks sweeet... And it was about 10x quicker to render too!!!! WOW!!
So I'm sorted....
But I'm still wanting the source

Yeah! Debian is great on my iMac, I still have a few issues to work out, but it's awesome!

Download and use 2.25 OS X, the OSA is fixed in this version.
