I thought it would be nice to be able to do this, just stumbled on it while working on my latest project.
First of all, I have three different scenes currently, all in the same file. All of them use the same character, just different environements and actions. So I thought it would be nice to link the character and armature from every scene to the same respective data. When I modify the character and/or armature they update automatically in the other scenes as well. The problem is I didn't know that vertex group information is stored per object.. not per mesh. Am I able to reflect the vertex groups from one scene to the other two? I've carefully skinned my character in one scene and notice that in the others he still lacks the vertex groups =) so he doesn't move with the armature.
