Not quite. DVD (and SVCD) is MPEG2, not MPEG1.

I think LayBack means to say that there are DVD players that can play VideoCD and Mpeg1. (I hope thats what he means).

status report:

I'm about halfway encoding the tapes I've got.
I talked to Ton about making Dvd's and here's the plan:

I'll make a page where people can 'collect' up to 4.3 Gb of data to be put on 1 dvd. The BAF ISO (1.4Gb) will be in that list. Then I'll burn a dvd-r of the collected data. There will be a fee for envelope/dvd-r/stamp/softdrink, that can be paid in the e-shop. I'll be doing it as a volenteer for maybe a month or so. One (1) compile per person/adres/eshop account. Maybe some other people (in the US or Australiua) can do the same thing, I don't know if thats possible (getting the costs back truw the e-shop).

So, what do you think of this plan?

Ton agrees to the plan.
I've decided to encode all in Xvid.avi also , so it will take a little longer to finish all (I expect 6 nov 04), but the xvid quality is much better.
Any interest in pre-order?

I expect to have the tapes encoded in mpeg1 and xvid this weekend.
Then I have to upload them to the blender server (Yaicks).
Then Marco and/or Nathan will create bitTorrents.
Then Bart will create a page with the little thumbs. (note to self: make the thumbs). So everybody who has bandwidth can download them from the web.

"Out of discspace!"

I'm uploading the MPEG's now, that will take about 16 hours. The Avi's will need more discspace...

A yes. I'm sorry i didn't get to tape your session.
Which is ironic since you where the only one who responded on my request.

The mpeg's & avi's will also be available in the e-shop. Not for free, but for a cost price. Anyone will be able to collect up to 4.3 Gb of data.
A form simular to this one will enable you to take a pick:
http://bc2004.excellentwhale.com/tapes.html

soon, in a browser near you.
