ok you guys know the "L" key

how when in edit mode it selects the linked vertex's

well it would be great if there was a combination between the "L" key and the "B" key so that you can select vertex's and then press the "L" key or somthing and have ALL linked vertex's selected

because currently i need to press the "L" key multiple times (e.g hundreds of times) to select multiple seperate groups of vertex's and being able to click and drag that selection would be great.

hope you understand what i mean by that

AFAIK You can press L and move your mouse around. No need to press L repeatedly!

when i press the L key it selects ALL linked verts. Are you guys saying it works differently for you?
select adjacent verts is what i would want a 'linked' command to do.

I think he means this:

you have an object with lots of separate meshes. You select one vertex on each mesh you want to select and then you hit L-key end you get the other vertices selected.. no?
Cool

na it doesn't work.

ok this is the deal i have a geodesic dome made up of individual tubes (for the edges)

each one is a seperate CLOSED MESH

but they are all joined together as a single OBJECT!!!!

now if i want to select HALF of them i can't just click and drag on half of them because i will not get some of the vertex's that are at one end of the tubes see included picture.

the thing i WANT to be able to do is select whatever verts i want to then afterwards press some kind of button ONCE to select all linked verts.

right now if i wanted to select the other end of all those meshs i would have to press the "L" key about 200 times

i know this becasue i did it earlier and it was why i chose to post here.

i hope you understand my request now.

p.s each of those sides is a seperate mesh.

why can't you select less than half, then use the l key to select the other ends of the parts you want.

almost offtopic:
does anybody here consider using materials to store selections?

I believe if you press ctrl-L it will select all verticies connected to those already selected. So you could select a bunch with B and then hit ctrl-L to get all the ones connected to them. I know this works in at least 2.26
