'The Matte Painting approach' on vfx shots

Norberto Idiart

Sunday 26 October Theater 30

This talk presents a 'Matte Painting approach' on VFX shots, the difference between this and a full 3d shot, pros and cons of these methods, and specially how Blender deals with all 3d work involved. Blender can easily handle multiple projections/textures/uvs in objects and we will discuss how all this can help a Digital Matte Painter. This kind of strategy on shots can be faster and cheaper than a full 3d method for TV and Cinema, specially if there's commitment and good planning of your shots, sequences and workflow. The presentation will be illustrated with some case studies, showing the workflow and all the process involved to produce a couple of shots using this Matte Painting approach.
