Point Density Texture goes Boom!

In this talk, I will illustrate the use of an update to the Point Density Texture node to visualise a supernova explosion. Frequently, computer simulations of physical processes involve tracking virtual particles that trace the evolution of parameters such as temperature, density, or chemical composition. I will discuss my method for building a custom mesh from the simulation data using Blender's Python environment and then visualizing these data using a volumetric material driven by Point Density Texture nodes. Future work includes animating the expansion of the supernova for display at scientific conferences, in the classroom, and on the planetarium dome.
