Conservation of Cultural Heritage is currently at a crucial moment with the development of new technologies. The specialisation of Virtual Restoration involves advanced knowledge through the large amount of Digital Imaging Techniques used to support and recover the integrity of Cultural Heritage by respecting the criteria of minimum intervention and the possibility of making hypothesis.

It is necessary to design and consolidate a methodology implementing new media in the different phases from the main strategies of analysis, 3D documentation, 3D mapping deterioration, 2D/3D digital restoration and 3D modeling and texturing of missing pieces, and considering the stage of 3D printing and final phase of diffusion of the results though an online platform in order to reach different audiences and contexts.

Blender has been used in Virtual Heritage Conservation as an auxiliary tool becoming a powerful asset for the profession.
