Press Release and 2.5 spec sheet

New Orleans, August 04 — Siggraph 2009 — The Blender Foundation, the organization behind the free and open source 3D creation suite Blender, today unveiled the result of the Blender 2.5 project, a fully customizable interface layout system, with advanced access to all tools and options Blender offers, and a fully revamped animation system.
The first of the official 2.5x series is expected to be released in October 2009.

Ton Roosendaal wil give an overview of work done past year, including an overview of results sofar for the highly anticipated Blender 2.5 project. Plans for next year will presented too, including targets for the 3rd open movie Durian.

Everyone is welcome to attend and provide valuable feedback.

We will begin with showing some of the highlights of animations created in Blender past year. Artists and developers then will give short presentations or demos of work they’ve done. When there’s time we do tutorials about various Blender topics.

We will give extensive demos of the work in progress on the exciting next major Blender release, with a full recoded architecture for event/window/tool handling, fully Python configurable to satisfy all the modern artist demands.
