Backround image problem

I am using blender 2.41 in fedora core 4 linux, and i have a strange problem, where i can't load reference pictures in the 3d view, or a UV image in the UV/Image editor. I have loaded pictures as a reference a few times, so i think blender is to blame on this one. It doesn't work in ortho view, and ...

1) Go to the editing buttons
2) In the modifier panel, click the modifier button, and select suburf

I think they should update that tutorial, cause lots of blender noobs use it  .

btw: post these questions at www.elysin.com. These forums are for developers

Wow...

When i have hydravision off (dual screen), it runs waaaaaaaaaay smoother, and i don't have the selection problem. Is there a way to have both? Or does hydravision just tie up the video card?

Strange problem with selecting verts

I have a strange selection problem. Blender won't let me select verts, unless I'm in wire. Box selection doesn't even work.

I'm on Windows Me, All-in-Wonder 9600 XT

Thanks

A problem that hasn't been fixed

One thing in blender that bugs me the most, is that if you set ur default startup session with 'Auto Keyframe' on, when you start blender next time (ctrl-x doesn't work), it turns back off. I reported this a long time ago, and people said it was fixed, but i seem to still have this problem with the ...

There are 2 opitons (that i know of):
1) Switch to wireframe mode (z)
or
2) Disable 'Clip with depth buffer' (Looks like a cube on the 3d window header)

I know the UI can be a bit intimidating for new users.... The blender Doc is located at: http://www.blender3d.org/documentation/htmlI/ It helps a lot It actually only takes a few months to know blender inside and out :P But i know where you're coming from. Just hang in there, and don't quit. If you ...
