If you call up the "view properties" panel in each window, you should be able to select a separate image for each of your windows. Once you have one loaded in the window you want it in, open up the same panel in another window. Beside the filename, just to the left of it, there's a tiny folder icon;...

Filenames and ids are still limited to 20 chars. It would be cool if all those small limitations were collected and removed once and for all. Filename limitations are AFAICR dictated by filesystem limitations (but I can be mistaken). Anyway, to circumvent the problem with datablock IDs being limite...

There are many small limitations in Blender that don't make sense any more. Besides the number of materials, there's also a limitation on the default camera view range and the number of grid lines we can have at a time. We can't modify the way the snapping grid is oriented or what is considered the...

Are 4 billion materials really going to be enough?
Possibly not for some people, but 16 definitely isn't enough. I'm not the only person who has been puzzled by the 16 material limit and not the only one who finds it annoying.

Anyone know why we have this silly limitation in Blender?

On many 3d packages you can allocate many materials to a single mesh, in some cases as many as you have memory for. In Blender, however, we're limited to a mere 16 per mesh, and this makes it really awkward sometimes when creating models that are going to be used in other applications or when import...

I'm puzzled by this because I use background images for modelling, and I use a side view in one port, a front view in another etc. How are you adding the image to the view?

[Feature request] a feature gone missing wanted back again!

Hello! Thanks for all the work that went into 2.48 &2.48a! The only trouble is, when I need to UV Map anything I have to go back to 2.47, as it had a feature I used all the time for mapping and I really don't want to work without it. "Draw Shadow Mesh". Yes, I need to be able to see the bits I have ...

Re: Content Paradise files

Hey Angel, so if I'm understanding you correctly, Poser models and textures should work for still pictures in Blender at least, but probably not animations? Thanks for your help Yes, but remember if you don't have Poser you'll have to rig any human or animal figures for Blender before you can pose ...

Re: Content Paradise files

I found a website called Content Paradise (contentparadise.com) which features tons of 3D files, but I am not sure if I can use and import any of them to work in Blender. has anyone used any files from them, and if so, what file format can I use? Ex: Poser? Obj? The vast majority of Content Paradis...

Menu item numbering please...

I think I am learning Blender fairly quickly, but there is one very simple change that would enable me, and I think many others, to learn it a lot faster, so I am throwing it out here in the hope that it will make its way into future versions. When you call up a menu it is normal to select options b...

The graphics card you are using doesn't have enough RAM. The reason most of your apllications run just fine in this environment and Blender doesn't is simple; proper native OS X applications pass all the screen update requests to the Aqua system and it uses the memory on the graphics card to provide...

Mac OS X Jaguar users warning: Do NOT update Python.

Hi all, just a tip for those, like myself, still using OS X 10.2.8 (Jaguar) I just spent ages trying to get any python scripts to work after upgrading from Blender 2.36 to 2.37a. After the update, no Pythonscripts would run at all, built in or opened in the text editor window. While using Blender 2....
