Ringo, so you work at black & decker?? and you use blender? :P I work for Applica. We own the Household Products division of Black & Decker as well as Windmere, Littermaid, Belson, Jerdon and a few others ( ApplicaInc.com ). My point is, you cannot move through a project nearly as fast in Maya as y...

All I know is that at work, we model objects, scenes and animations 5x faster in Blender (with photo-realistic results...) than with Maya. Blenders interface is probably the most intuitive system in 3D modeling and animation - hands down. It's brilliant. Maya has been downright unpredictable, a bit ...

I'm sure you'll be fine with the new M60. We've pounded this M50 for a couple of years and it served us well.

Good luck to you.

yeah, i already did that. but i think blender's internal raytracer doesn't look as good as yafray. AND yafray is MUCH faster than blender's raytracer (especially with OSA on)! Aenogym I can't really agree on that, Aenogym, yafray takes forever on my system. Maybe it's something I'm doing (or not do...

Re: pictures in pdf manual

So when during the gingerbreadman tutorial it tells you to configure the settings like the picture, you can't becuase the settings are cut off. any idea how to fix this? thanks. Yes, you can...

Re: Blender on a laptop?

Hi, Can Blender be used on a laptop? Is there anything special that I should look for in a laptop if I'm going to use if for creating with Blender, Python, etc? Just Curious! Runs great on my old Dell Notebook (P4-1.3/512). In fact, we've been running all the Blender presentation animations on this...

I've never had an issue with Geforce1/2/4MX/FX5200/FX5600 or Radeon9800PROs with 32-bit colour set... I've tried changing the bit-depth, resolution and every other video option available and both PC's still have the same problem since the 2.31a install. Could be an XP update patch problem since tha...

Ok, managed to get something from the console before the shutdown...

Here's what's displayed:

'import site' failed; use -v for traceback
sys_init:warning - no sitedirs added from site module.

That's it. Then shuts down.[/img]

The console window is blank when launching blender. The error pops up immediately and when I switch back the console window it's blank.

I'll try some of the switches and see what happens. Thanks.

Yes, latest drivers from the Nvidia/ATI (for both PC's) No Spyware (I use AdAware about once a week). No other software running, no background tasks other than what is needed for the OS. What I mean by "haven't been able to go back to earlier versions with a crash?" is that I haven't been able to go...

By the way...
This started right after installing 2.31a. Never got to successfully launch this version and haven't been able to go back to the earlier versions with a crash.
