Found the answer (funny how actually asking the question on blender.org seems to let my brain find the solution alone...) bpy.ops.import_scene.obj(filepath="", filter_glob="*.obj;*.mtl", use_ngons=True, use_edges=True, use_smooth_groups=True, use_split_objects=True, use_split_groups=True, use_groups...

Call a script from a python script or the python console

I am doing some tedious and repetitive work on a project of mine : import digitized .obj and cleaning them before saving them in .blend. For the moment I am doing this by hand. But having to do this a couple hundred of time, while doable, would not be enjoyable. So I am wondering if it is possible t...

Re: What is the equivalent of setMatrix in blender 2.62?

:D Thanks for the answer, I was wondering how to make a 4x4 matrix from those 3x3 matrices I received. This should make for cleaner code in my script. ...So if there is something that let me set the rotation matrix of an object directly, I would love to know about it. The matrix_world attribute (met...

Simply assign the new matrix to a matrix attribute of a Python object. Thank you. I also got some help from a BA user TrumanBlending who kindly put some code snippet too. I'm putting this here in case someone stumble on this post and has the same question. import bpy from mathutils import Ma...

What is the equivalent of setMatrix in blender 2.62?

I am trying to get one of my older python scripts to work in Blender 2.62. In the old script, I would use setMatrix to apply the rotations I get from an external file containing a 3x3 matrix (mocap kind of...). Since the changes in the python API, I have not been able to find back this function. Any...

Ok thanks for the tip. :D

I still think Ctrl-N could be better used than for "Reload startup file/wipe all".

I don't now what exactly, but there is bound to be something more useful for this shortcut to be mapped to.

 A click happen so darn fast when you model that it all happen in the blink of an eye. Especially because blender pop the prompt right under the mouse if I am not mistaken. Frankly, what's the point of having a shortcut for wiping everything at all? Does anybody need to create a new file on a r...

[Blender 2.5] Ctrl-N shortcut is a little bit unwise

So far I haven't found any mention of it in the forum, so call me stupid if you want. But when you are in edit mode, Ctrl-N is used to unify/flip normals. Which is esential if you are doing a lot of poly modeling. Problem is that when you are not in edit mode, Ctrl-N is used to create a new file. (v...

Problems with materials in pre-2.48a blends?

I started a thread at BA forums trying to get some help. I am working since 2007 and blender 2.46 on a personal project of mine and recently I wanted to start with a clean "material" slate (a lot of image had been lost, materials where unused). The blend can be downloaded at BA. It consist only of a...

Problems with Macpro and nVidia card...

I am currently disabled at work because Blender keep hanging the OS. Typical scenario is that I am using Blender to model and suddenly, there is a slight freeze and then the mac spinning rainbow pizza of doom (I don't know the exact name of this stuff). Then I regain control for some seconds and the...

The source of Blender's IK power...

I just wanted to have some infos...

Can anybody tell me if I understood this page correctly?
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/SoCIn ... Kinematics

Is blender's IK a damped least squares pseudo inverse jacobian solution? Did I get this part right? :)

Thanks

Allow Dupliverts and Clothe simulation together?

I've been toying with dupliverts lately, and started imagining the potential usage of it. To my surprise: It works well with softbodies. But clothes simulation doesn't allow duplivert. Is there any plan to unify this? Or does it means the way the cloth sim feed vertex and faces info back to blender ...

Array modifier upgrade + "Indivual Center" vs. Med

Searched the forum and googled a bit with no significant results. So, here I go... Currently, when you apply the Array modifier, you end up with a single object with all the clone merged together. Wonder if the array modifier could be modified with a checkable option : "separate resulting mesh" so t...

Wonder if re-topo could enhance Blender's boolean?

After seeing what re-topo can do, I was thinking : Could this nice little tool be useful to make boolean objects better? Maybe it sounds stupid... but instead of making a classic boolean object, why not use re-topo to rebuild the mesh to match the result of the boolean... Instead of having a user dr...
