Topic: Feature request? Align grid in Local View
Replies: 2

The location of the grid is not so much an issue as is the orientation. Once an object has been rotated so that the local coordinates no longer match the global coordinates, the grid becomes nearly useless. If I'm working on a mesh and want to make use of the grid, I have to clear rotation, make edi...

Feature request? Align grid in Local View

Is it possible to have the grid align with the object's local coordinates when in Local View ("/") and return to normal in Global View? If not, this would be a nice option.

Thanks,

Rick

Tranform and Local View Behavior

I'm asking here if what I want to be able to do is already available before making a feature request. 1. Is there a way to automatically snap to absolute grid points? It appears that currently, we can only snap to points one grid interval away from start position but not to the exact point where the...

Bullet physics engine trouble

I love the ability to use the game physics engine in animations--it's so much easier than manually setting up IPOs and produces much better results. I'm having a couple of problems, though. As a test, I'm trying to create a simple animation of a bouncing ball. If I use the Sumo engine, I can control...

Recoring game physics to IPO problem

I'm fairly new at this so I apologize if my explanation is not clear. I am having trouble synchronizing an IPO recorded by the game engine with another IPO used for animation. As a simple test, I have a ball that bounces around in a rotating box. During game play, they're perfectly in sync, but when...

Thanks khughes. If I understand correctly, size, loc and rot would be used to transform the entire object but not, for example, a set of individually selected vertices. What I had in mind was a function that could work on any number of selected objects or vertices as a set, taking delta x, y and z o...

Transforming with Python

Can a python script call functions within Blender to rotate or transform selected objects or vertices rather than calculate the transformations itself. It would be nice to have a rotate(...), move(...) and scale(...) function. These are all things that Blender already knows how to do and it does the...

Uh? It's already in bf-blender CVS and will be in the 2.40 release.
It is, indeed. Not sure how I missed it, but very happy to see it there. Thanks, broken!

Mohij, You're right, it would save alot of time. If I'm trying to scale several objects, one at a time, to a specific factor of the original, I must complete the transform in one step. If I hit the edge of the screen, I have to cancel, and retry. I can increase how fast the mouse scales by starting ...

Rick3D: if what you want is just being able to use edge as transform constraints, than you can rest assure that it's gonna be there soon. :) That's great. Wouldn't using an edge as a transform constraint produce the equivalent effect of a "vertexslide"? I like the idea of using the wheel (or arrow ...

Good question. When you do an edgeslide and the edge has more than one available path, the direction the mouse is moved selects the path. Would a similar approach work with a vertex slide? On the other hand... Originally, I figured that a vertex would slide only along two adjoined edges that were al...

Slide along an edge, between two vertices. Much like edgeslide, except with a single vertex--like a bead along a string. For example, when I subdivide, I want to move a vertex that was created in the middle of a line along that line. I realize I can select a neighboring vertex, then the one I want t...

Text fields I was really hoping that the text field editing features that showed up in tuhopuu some time ago would make it to 4.0. Specifically, having the ability to highlight text, replacing highlighted text when typing and highlighting all text in a field when entering the field. Also, when in a...
