Hi there, this looks like a nice project. I would suggest to be able to drive bones with this though. So that each phoneme is mapped to a bone configuration that can be weighted. You should interpolate the quaternions. Although Slerp is the correct way of doing interpolation, you can probably get away with linear interpolation. Visually there should not be much difference but it will be less costly.
