Can you overlay text on a render and edit it with Python?

Hi all, for debugging purposes I want to render with a text overlay which just prints a few variables from my scripts which are running at render time. Is that possible? I know you can have a text overlay showing things like frame rate and that, because I've seen it done, but I haven't even worked o...

Thanks a lot! I since solved the problem with a kind of approximate kludge but this info should be useful for perfecting my method.

Cheers,

Ben

Newbie questions about calculating a rotation from vectors

Hi all, I have a question which I think would be simple to answer if you know a bit more than me about eulers and quaternions so on. I'd much appreciate it if anyone can offer some advice! I have motion capture data, i.e. points in 3D space over time. 3 of these points were markers on a persons head...

It was a dual processor. Just on the off chance anyone else comes across this topic and needs to solve a similar problem, this is how I cludged it: As it happens, I had a third process running on the computer, which was actually the one which told blender to play this sound (that process takes input...

Hmm, good idea, sounds very feasible seeing as that computer came from the eye-tracking software company and it sounds like the sort of thing a specialised computer like that might be equipped with. I won't know for sure till I'm at work on Monday and can check. But if that is the case (and I apprec...

performance issues with GE, specifically sound

Hi all, I'm running 2.41 on two different windows XP systems. The first one is a more powerful machine. When I start up the blender game engine, everything runs very smoothly as I would like, and the blender process takes about 99% CPU. The other machine is less powerful. Additionally, I run another...

Alright, thanks for letting me know LetterRip...

*sigh*...

there's apparently no way to properly full screen from inside blender either (can't get rid of the window title bar).

I think the developers should think about enabling this!

Cheers,

Ben

Forgive me if I am missing something, but if the pyserial import fails, you will NOT be able to use any of its methods. Exactly, that's why I am saying that the fact that I am getting method not found errors indicates that the import isn't working properly. Note that you will have to install pyseri...

OK, someone helped me understand that in another thread:

http://www.blender.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8090

The confusion was because I didn't really understand how screens worked.

I'd still be interested in knowing whether I can export a run time using full python though.

Aha! I didn't realise the info header was a window. Thanks!

Now it's just the window title bar then...

Cool, thanks! So you can full screen a game panel from within blender. But how was it done? I can't find any documentation with the file. You can move back and forth between the full screen and the standard blender interface with CTRL-LFT and CTRL-RGT, but that doesn't work with a normal blender fil...

full screen an interface panel in 2.37?

Hi all, Is there a way to make an interface panel completely full screen? I want to make a game engine window full screen but I can't do it by exporting a run time (see http://www.blender.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=49657#49657 ). I know I can do CTRL-UP, but I don't know a way to lose the window titl...

exporting a run time and using full python problem

Hi, I have a game engine application which uses code from a python full install, specifically the pyserial module. Exporting a runtime of this produces an .exe which starts by correctly rendering the scene, and then hangs. Removing the offending python code results in a working .exe so I know my sys...

The problems are with pyserial objects. I know the object is (or should be) the right type, because as I said the code works perfectly when run with alt-p rather than when triggered within the game engine. I am pretty sure the method not found problems occur because the pyserial code is not imported...
