Yeah, i can see things getting cluttered in blender. Even in 2.41, there are a lot of things "hiding" in sub menu's, and for somebody who uses the keyboard for 99% of the operations, its a bit of a slow down. I think some things like "remove doubles" or the "face editing" features can have their own...

Yep, i've always found blender to be redicoulously fast. with the new versions, i've had to re-arrange things so i can get to them easier, but its still fast. If you keep working on it, you'll eventually get super fast, and efficient at it, and end up defending it like me, and a lot of others :D Of ...

I dont use a whole lot of raytracing, as i do a lot more modeling than rendering stuff. that does make sence, i guess i was just thought raytracing might speed the process up, as it did shadows, or reflections etc...

thanks for the imput tho

its a bit off my level, im not that far into the coding or programming :P i guess to simplify it, i can say: Faces acting as lamps. instead of having to use the radiosity settings, just have the faces act as a lamp. the face would act as the emittor (mabey based on the normals?) and have it react, a...

Feature Request: Raytracing Radiosity?!

I was sitting around waiting for a model to finish raytracing, when i had an idea: What if raytracing could do the job that radiosity does? Instead of having it calculate the faces individually, the faces would act like radiosity lamps! There could be a window in the texture menu (like the ramps men...

I think its a great idea. I have temporarily stopped using 2.41 due to this and the grid zoom topic i posted in the "interface & tools" forum. I also think it would be a simple task to make it apply auto-smooth to the 3D window. this would make things more efficient, and prettier! :D Also, when you ...

Scaling @ super zoom

Hey, i've been a blender head for a few years now, got very good (and quick) with the interface and editing methods in the versions up to 2.37, and in these newer versions, im a bit confused about what happened with the grid systems etc... Before you could zoom in super-close, and still scale a vert...

Yes definatly. I was thinking a good way to do this is add a an option (like a button: Vert-smooth on/off) for "vertex groups" to work with smoothing groups. You could assign smoothing groups to individual vertex groups and have them behave like seperate objects. if you dont want the option, then tu...

Yes im actually reverting to the last version of blender partly because of this. I find it very difficult to work on any models that are nearing completion (and require smoothing groups) due to this. I dont even see the point of it, because it takes a half second to hit the "set smooth" button if th...

I've noticed a HUGE slowdown not just in the menus, but when working with models as well. I've been using blender for years now, and i've never had a problem with the new versions untill 2.37a (with another problem) and now 2.40. I usually work with high poly stuff, and a current model im working wi...
